Help matching speakers and receiver/amp

I'm a college student looking to invest in speakers (primarily for music, but also for TV, movies, gaming, etc.) for the next 8 years or so. I was planning on (at least for now) setting up a 2.1 system because I don't have enough money to set up something fancier - in fact, I won't be able to get the subwoofer until next year.

The speakers I've got are Aperion Intimus 4T
6 Ohm
86 dB
"Recommended Power 25-150 Watts."

I'm looking for a reciever/amp somewhere in the $250-300 range and I have a few questions.

Will 6 Ohm speakers be fine with just about any amp?

What should I make of the "recommended power"? I've read that usually you want slightly more output from your amp than your speakers listed power, but I assume the 150 Watts is more of a max than recommended. Would 100 Watts/channel be fine? (Or am I confused an I want 100 Watts total, 50/channel?) How does the wattage at 8 Ohms compare to the wattage at 6 Ohms?

It would be nice to have the capability to expand to a 5.1 system when I have some money, but it isn't a big priority. Is there a big difference in sound quality between a $250 5.1 receiver/amp and a $250 2.1 receiver/amp?

Lastly, is it reasonably safe to buy a used receiver/amp over ebay or a similar site or should I be buying it new?

I appreciate any advice.
