Hello all...

Im in the process of looking for a suround sound system for my home and would like to run a few things buy you guys that have been doing this for a long time...
Attached is a pic of what i expect my setup to look like.
I have a 50' 1080p tv so i want a receiver that can handle this but not pay out of my a## to get it lol.

What i came up with was the yamaha rx v2700 or rx v1700 either one will do for me right now but the 2700 has 3 hdmi inputs thats a pluss i might need in the future.
I wanted small speakers nothing big so they can blend in so i came up with the BOSE Acustimas 16 modle speakers ill have to buy 1 more to make 7 i belive they come in a set of 6.
Any thoughts?

Before you go any further, do a search on Bose in the speakers forum. Let's just say...not a good idea. I think the choice of receivers should do fine.

You can get pics hosted for free online at places like www.photobucket.com , then post the image tag [ img ]xxxx[ /img ] in the body of the message.

That's a gigantic question, like "ok, if I don't buy the Yugo, what should I buy?" Of course the answer is, well, it depends.

Set your budget and start by reading the speaker reviews here and reading through posts in the speaker forum. It should start snowballing by then.

What is your budget and what are the rough dimensions of the room? Then we can maybe help decide if you need a 1700 or 2700 and get you some recommendations within your budget.

My room is about 15X25 set up like in the pic above in my first post.
The reason i want the 2700 is because it has 1080p hdmi X3 just trying to plan ahead.

I know what the receiver will cost and im fine with that.
Ill go $1000 to $1500 for a 7.1 speaker system.

The only real reason i want Bose is because there small and discrete.
In the end i just want it ti kick a## lol.

No offence but better, similar sized, and ultimately less expensive speakers can be had other than a Bose system. When buying a hometheater system you should put most of the budget to the speakers. Look to be spending 1/3 or less on the receiver and the rest on speakers and a subwoofer. Paradigm, Definitive Tech, PSB, HSU, SVS; these are all manufacturers that offer more value and quality in their speakers and offer sub/sat configurations. You could also do inwall speakers, which are very discrete.

Bose is a marketing master, they market to the mass consumer audience and do it very well, their audio products have a very high mark-up. They use inexpensive parts (paper woofers and cheap thin cabinet structures), and they cut corners. Unless you have absolutely no choice...WAF... then try to get something else, much better can be had than Bose for the price. I assume that you want to research this, as you came to Audioholic's Forum to get some information, so I hope you will take this into consideration.
