You will find out here quickly that Monster is not well regarded due, in large part, to very anti-competitive lawsuits and extremely overpriced product.
Much like Bose, the speakers you are looking at aren't something you should ever consider if you do five seconds of actual research and do NOT read the hype reviews, but get into the actual specifications of the product.
That said, I've found that while Monster has a lot of poor business practices, and does overcharge by a wide margin, their product typically performs very well.
The big downside here is that you would be extremely foolish to buy anything from them.
I mean, yes, their stuff sounds good, but if you want something that sounds good, and there is a ton of stuff at half (or less) the cost, then why would you waste your money for any reason OTHER than that silly brand name?
Come up with a realistic budget, describe your room, then ask for some actual options. I suggest you go into local A/V stores, especially if you can find some smaller specialty stores, in your area and actually listen to different speakers. It may be worth it to try an Axiom or Aperion set of speakers in your home as well.
Also, a good subwoofer is often a best value when you buy from a subwoofer manufacturer instead of from a speaker manufacturer. There are many possible recommendations depending on your budget.
But, it looks like this is what you were referencing in your original post:

and at $900 (is that for one or two speakers?) you have enough budget to end up with a speaker setup that is a fair bit better.

There is nothing in here that indicates they are anything special.
It also appears, from their complete lack of direct marketing on their website, that these speakers are no longer in production, and may be discontinued. (???) - Not sure on that, but it's extremely unusual for Monster to not have their product listed up front and center.
I would just avoid them and go to a serious speaker manufacturer. It's a much safer and cost effective approach to things.
