Hello guys, I am a new member here so I have recently bought Plasma Television and I want to buy 2.0 speakers for this. What I want in a sound is that the vocals should be excellent which do not distort a bit even on full volume of the speakers, Second thing I need is clarity, it should be awesome in clarity and the third thing I need is bass, bass should be deep and punchy but not at all boomy, I hate boomy bass. Treble should be smooth.

My budget is between $300 - $350.

Thank you :)

An early reply is requested:)

Regards:)

350 is a very small budget to be honest... Brand new, a B-stock EMP Tek e5ti can extend down to ~60hz and fits the bill for clean bass, excellent midrange / voice intelligibility, and a clean, smooth treble. EVen then, though, i still recommend pairing with a subwoofer to get full extension. Another one to consider is the Infinity P363. A pity the Speaker Company (Boston Acoustics' ID Brand IIRC) doesn't make stuff anymore. Getting a bit more expensive, there's this. Go to your local big box retailer and ask to listen to some Klipsch RF-52s and some yamaha 310s too and see if they fit what you're looking for.

Really though, strongly recommend a separate subwoofer, as placement can affect bass quality. For example if you went with a pair of Behringer 2030p's and paired them with a cheap sub (maybe a lavasub 10 inch), you'd get a nice starter system.

My real recommendation though would be to scour the classifieds and try to find something used up for sale. It can be tough looking online though, since no one ever wants to ship =\

Craigslist / kijiji are a better place to look locally. That's my ultimate suggestion.

ok guys thank you for ur input but plz do remember that I don't need boomy bass at all. I need deep and punchy bass, excellent vocals which do not distort a bit even on full volume of the speakers and awesome and nice smooth treble. I think Cambridge and EMPtek is not available in India :(

There are some interesting kits on gr-research.com if you can build a cabinet. If not, some of the cabinets can be found premade parts express for N1/N2X/N1X.

No one thought to mention the Behringer 2030's or 2031's?
LOL, Post was done and over before I noticed it! Otherwise I would have recommended thee 2031P with the 8-3/4" woofer. But even that could have caused some booming if he is in a smaller room.
Actually, I re-read the post and GranteedEV did suggest 2030's (plus sub).

abhi_jollyguy,
The boom comes more from the room than from the speakers (though some speakers are worse than others).
Here is a video clip which might help explain the "boom" effect:

The AE5's are great little speakers. Their only compromise is in the bass/size category and with your concern about boom, they are a safe bet in a speaker with top notch detail and clarity. Enjoy!
