Help Identifying Speaker

Hi,
I'm trying to identify a set of speakers a friend of mine got from her dad. He found them in a box along side the road years ago. The speakers are large bookshelves (about 24") and house two 6" speakers and a " Titanium Super tweeter". One of the six inch speakers looks standard with the ridges inside and the other looks like a dedicated woofer with no ridges. The only markings on the speaker is a cursive "L" followed by a oval British flag and then an "A". These speaker are very heavy for the size and put out some good sound. Any help identifying them would be appreciated as I have no info on power ratings or anything else. I kinda like them ;)

Thanks!

Picture

Sorry, about the no picture thing and thanks for the reply. I only see how to link a pic so I'm looking for a site that I can upload it to and link it.

Hope the pic helps

I only have a camera on my phone. Here's the pic, I hope it helps. It's completely non descript with only the LA and the british flag I described (on the grill which I don't have)

These are London Audio speakers. They probably fell out of a white van just before your friend's father found them. Sorry, these are probably worthless, but you may want to investigate deeper into L.A. speakers just to be certain. This is one of the brand names used in the speaker scams running around the U.S.

Thanks I'll look into those speakers. I've Bi-Amped the up to my Denon AVR 3805 and I REALLY like the sound (after some tweaks and backed up by my LFM-1).To me they beat out the JBL Northridge e90s I unhooked to try them, but I'm afraid to drive them until I have a better Idea what I have here.

White Van

Yeah, I saw the White van stuff and the Overstock stuff auction after reading your post. It does look like the picture; but these belong to a girlfriend. I brought them home after I hooked them to her little crapo $65 receiver today and couldn't believe how good they sounded so I hooked them to my system. If I can find these for $20 I'm going to fill my garage. I'm searching for them now :)

London Audio

Got the story from her brother and these are for sure from the London Audio White Van scam. There were represented as $500 speakers and they bought them "illegally" for $100... hahahaa. They have had these for years believing that and never telling the rest of the family :) Only thing is they sound better then either set of JBL speakers I have. For $100 I think they got scammed into a pretty good deal. Thanks again for the replys... now I just hafta figure out how to close the thread and give credit.

Close thread

I haven't used the forum much. I assumed I could close the thread so more people don't have to waste time looking at a solved issue, but I don't see how. Also, I did "thank" but I don't see any way to give "Tomorrow" any official recognition for taking the time to solve the issue. I guess you don't and the thread stays open forever
