So here is my problem...I want a better home sounding receiver but i am totally lost. I am 52 , love music, i love the sound of 70's receivers and even Fischer 80's era stuff. I have decent speakers...Klipisch floors.. and a mid level yamaha that doesn't seem to have any dynamics...i want to hear the high hat! lol...and here is what i need. first no interest in A/V hookup or radio. i only need a record player input (currently i run my technics via a preamp into my Yamaha receiver) a cd input and i would like a blue tooth to play my phone mp3s. that is it... and i do not want to spend much more than 600 ( but i could)or so...i live in an apartment so i want sound quality over volume. Help! and ty!

Hi,

Do you think it might be a room treatment issue before buying stuff? Room treatment goes a long way and speaker placement matters. Have you ran your receiver's calibration with its microphone? Is it just that the treble seems too tame for your liking? You may want to explore this before buying a new receiver or power amp just to find out it sounds nearly the same due to the above.

Otherwise, you could just get a power amp (class A maybe); you already have a pre-amp for your turntable, so to add bluetooth back you could just get a dongle.

Very best,
