Ok, so Im pretty new to this. I have been running a Denon 2 ch amp for my mains off my denon avr 987. now I bought the Outlaw 755 200 watts by 5 very nice amp, but here is the issue. I hooked it up exactly how it should be pre outs from Denon to inputs of outlaw, pretty easy but no sound! I have read both manuals and done everything I can think of but still no sound. Its like the amp is not getting a signal to play. power lights on, all conections good, no take off. Can anyone help?

Did you move the speaker wires off of the Denon speaker terminals to put onto the Outlaw speaker terminals. Sorry about the question. I ask basic questions first. You are taking the pre outs from the Denon to the inputs of the Outlaws? Sometime people make mistakes and take the 5.1 DVD inputs instead of the pre outs. Hand trace all connects.

Good luck,

One other thing, make sure there are no "whiskers" on your speaker wires causing a short. This will put your amp in shut down. This should be a simple hook up.

If you have a source with a volume control on it, such as a CD player connect it to you outlaw direct checking one channel at a time. If you get now sound, then that out law is a dud.

Sounds like the power in to the amp board from the power supply may have slipped off in transit, or something of that nature. If you put your ear very close to the tweeter, all amps will produce a very faint hiss. If you do not hear this from any of the tweeters, then I'm pretty certain the amp board is not receiving any power for some reason.

Yes, I checked all connections and also took the audio out plug from my Denon DVD and pluged it derectly into the outlaw and still no sound. I have no ( Whiskers ) and all connections are good. I dont hear a hiss so I do think somethig is not telling the amp to turn on. The amp was working the night before when it was unhooked so I realy dont think its a dud. I am using a 1/8" stereo trigger wire and the manual calls for a mono wire, but it also says a trigger wire is not required to activate the amp. I will try anything. Thanks for your ideas please send some more.

Does it work if you turn it on manually by holding in the power button on the front panel until the light is illuminated?

I think you have gone about as far as you can go with it. There is almost certainly either a fault in the switch on circuit or power supply. If the lights are coming on, then it is almost certainly a power supply problem.

I have never heard of an amp then won't pass a signal, when the lights are all illuminated, unless there is something the matter with it.

Amps are pretty simple and don't have fancy microprocessors as a rule.

Call Emotiva. Their customer service is great also try asking on their lounge (forum page). It sounds like the amp.

Disconnect the 12v trigger and try it again. I've found that stereo cables do not work for 12v trigger usage. It may simply be in standby with the lights on. Doesn't hurt to check.

Good point, I did not think about the selector switch for 12v triiger. If anything switch to alway on.

I have downloaded the manual for your amp. The only other simple mistake you may have made is wrongly setting the balanced/unbalanced input switches for each channel. Your amp does not auto detect and you have to set the switches according to you connection. The XLR connectors are balanced, the RCAs are unbalanced. If these are set incorrectly, then there is no sound. Apart from that, if the power light is on and the wiring is correct, you should have sound.

One other question, do you hear the speaker relays click a little while after turn on? Your amp has to stabilize after turn on, likely because there is a large DC off set for a period of time. A timer circuit then throws the speaker relays, and there is a click. If you are not hearing this click, the timer chip may have failed.

You have to remember the times of the highest rate of failure for a solid state devices is when they are new, after a short period of use.

Got It!!!!

hate to admit it was just the trigger wire, I did not think the mono plug would work and not a stereo. I went and found a mono to mono plug today and bam. I like this amp, loads of power and clean. Thank you all for your help. I hope this will help someone for the future.
