I am looking for suggestions on hooking up the following equipment for the best performance (Video and Audio) and easiet management (the less remotes, the better). I have some of the connections figured out but need help with the others (noted with "?"). I am also using 5.1 speakers through the Receiver.

Box-> Connection type-> to Box
Comcast Dig. Motorola DCT6200->DVI Video-> TV-Sony KP-65WV700
Comcast Dig. Motorola DCT6200->Optical Audio-> Sony Receiver
Sony DVD PLayer-> Optical Audio-> Sony Receiver
Sony DVD PLayer-> Video-> TV or Receiver?
Sony VCR-> Video-> TV or Receiver?
Sony VCR-> Audio-> TV or Receiver?
Gamecube and Playstation-> Video-> TV or Receiver?
Gamecube and PLaystation-> Audio-> TV or Receiver?

I only have one each of the DCT6200, VCR and DVD player, but listed them more that once to split the audio and video connections up.

Basically, how do I hook this equipment up to each other for the best performance without having duplicate connections?

Thanks, BoomerHolic

I'll try to word it better

What is the best way (and method i.e. DVI, Composite, etc.) to hook this equipment to each other without having redundant connections.

Comcast Digital Cable Motorola DCT6200 (w/DVI connection)
TV-Sony KP-65WV700 (w/DVI connection)
Sony Receiver-w\optical digital (for TV/SAT and DVD) and componant 5.1 connections)
Sony DVD PLayer-w\Optical digital audio
Sony VCR-> w\composite connection
Gamecube
Playstation

I also have 5.1 speakers running through the receiver.

Thanks for the input

This may work
connect the cable box to the TV (DVI)
connect the audio out from the TV to an input on your receiver
connect receiver to TV (audio video line outs)
connect your CD player using the Toslink cable
connect your vcr to your receiver AV in out
connect game machines to TV or receiver.
disable speakers in TV
all sound will come from 5.1 speakers

How many inputs does your receiver have? :cool:

Cable box DVI into tv with analog audio for stand alone tv sound. Cable box digital audio into receiver (coax or optical?)

DVD player component to tv(video 5?) optical to receiver.

Sony receiver Monitor out to tv video 1(video only)

VCR audio and video to receiver video 1 (RF out to TV for stand alone).

Playstation component video to TV video 4? optical to receiver CD (or analog to receiver if there arent any more digital inputs left. that being the case Sony's Cinema studio C sound field is best for action Prologic).

Follow same hook up ideas for the Gamecube. Some Sony's have an optical input in the front for games.

If your receiver runs out of digital inputs, it might be a good time to upgrade to a better Sony.

Also you might want a programmable remote like the Phillips pronto or URC2 remote from xantech to handle all the switching.. Sony works very well with these kind of remotes.
