Help, HDMI set up

My husband and I just purchased a panasonic th50px60u and the Onkyo tx-sr674 receiver and we cannot get sound through the receiver using a HDMI cable. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not personally familiar with either units setup. Normally there is something in the audio setup that enables the sound via hdmi. I'm using different equpipment from you, but the setup should be similar. In my player I have to select the hdmi option to output audio via it. In my reciever setup there is an option for digital input assignment. I have to select the input device (dvd, tv, vcr, cable, etc) and scroll to assign the digital source (coax1, coax2, optical1, etc).

Look for something similar to that. If that doesn't work, let us know.

I had the same problem after I set up my Onkyo 604. All the settings were right and still no sound. I gave up for the night came back the next day after work and there was sound. Two days later no sound again. Played with the settings for a while still no sound. Shut everything off, turn back on sound. You have to turn the receiver on first then the dvd player. Otherwise no sound only picture. Kind of strange or is this normal?
