Help HDMI connection

Hi I have a question about HDMI connection

Should I use a HDMI cable connect my blue ray player (Sony - UBP-X800) to my receiver (yamaha av 1070) first, then use another HDMI connect from the receiver to TV (sony 900e)

or use HDMI cable connect my blue ray player to my receiver first, then use another HDMI connect from the blue ray player to TV. What is the difference?

The first option. There is no advantage to the second.
