Hi All

Was hoping to get some feedback. I recently decided to build a home theater system (in a room with possibly the worst acoustics possible) and am trying to decide on a receiver (I have returned 3 in the last 60 days not having been happy with them for a few various reasons, Denon AVX3000, pioneer VSX44) Currently i have a SC-81 (heard good things about the amps) but frankly i just feel it is a little lacking overall and i am frustrated that it will only allow stereo in HDMI 4 which is where i have my console set up (i game on this system as well and so this is unacceptable). I am thinking of moving to a Marantz SR7008 as it has pre-outs that would allow for me to eventually upgrade a bit further. I guess i am just looking for some confirmation on which receiver i should get to go with my current system (intend to continue adding speakers to this setup) which is built as follows:
F&L loudspeakers - B&W CM9 series 1s
Center - B&W CM Centre 2 S2
Surround - Martin Logan Clarity's
Infinity Sub - actually not sure of the specs

Any advice is appreciated

The Marantz is a nice receiver, I don't think anyone will argue that, but what didn't you like about the Denon? Granted its not their top of the line but then again it costs <$500.
I see what your running for speakers.
What is your budget for a receiver? What is the size and layout of the room? What volumes do you like to listen at?

the room is terrible. it is an open floor plan which ends up meaning i have a vaulted ceiling, a half wall behind where the speakers are pointed and then open space to the next 2 rooms. Also speakers for surround are currently on sides and not in same placement as room wont allow it. So I know i wont be getting any help from the room but will be moving in about 6 month to a home with better acoustics, so want the system to grow with me when i get to a room where i can have a better setup. The Denon kept failing in the setup when it tried to check the speakers. I checked everything and it was set up perfect but kept saying it could not hear my left front speaker (or a different speaker when doing calibration) when i heard it fine and finally pissed me off after blasting a speaker at crazy volume for the millionth time, so i packed it up and bought another Pioneer as that had been the easiest to use thus far.

As to budget I would prefer not to go over about 1200 (marantz on sale for 1k, current pioneer was 700) as I am trying my wife's patience now with all this but at the same time if the difference is noticeable i could take that to 2k if i was going to get more bang for my buck.

most of the time the volume is fairly low as i have 2 little kids and just need it loud enough to hear voices. However at least once a week I listen to music fairly loud or a movie and at that time i do like to make sure its an experience though i would not say i am pushing my system to its max ever.

Sorry about the delay jay. It was a rough week at work.
Did you contact Denon about the problems you were having? It may have been a glitch in the Denon or the room and speaker setup.

What is your final goal for your system, 5.1 7.1 Atmos?

You keep mentioning the room.... are you also hoping any type of preamp/receiver will solve the problem? I have that exact style of room myself, panel absorbers are the only way to solve that echo!
