Help! First theater build (with room dimensions/pics)

Unfortunately the space is a theater/entertainment space build and not a dedicated theater room. Please keep this in mind - I already know the walls and/or ceiling need some paint, while the floors have already been changed over from a laminate sticky wood look to the carpet seen in the pictures. I plan on putting the PJ screen on wall 'A' and still maybe hoping of putting it on the wall that is 12'6" as I could get a larger screen. Attached at the bottom are pictures of the room with wall dimensions.

I am looking for opinions/suggestions on 3.1 channel system. I had originally wanted a 5.1 and at some point, but was recommended to start with quality 3.1 instead and add surround later. I would like to expand this area into Dolby Atmos so please take that into consideration as well. My PJ/room will mainly be utilized for sporting events (mostly football and F1 racing) as well as movies, Netflix, and from time to time I stream stuff from Twitch from my laptop. I don't require top of the line equipment, I rather value best bang for the buck. The majority of the time also will be myself and fiancé with a viewing distance of 12'-13'. Overall budget I would say is $1500 (I know that's tight). I am also open to used items and am located near Milwaukee, WI and would be willing to look at FB marketplace or Craigslist if there is good used stuff in my area. One MUST have is a solid center speaker as I often times have problems hearing dialogue. I have been recommended the following so far by several people (asterisk indicates which I am leaning towards currently of what has been suggested):

Projector

The bad news is all the bright colors in that room. That will not help the contrast in a projection image. You will want to get a screen that is made for a environment like that. Getting a good projection screen home theater in there will be tough on that budget, but maybe not impossible though. Look into DIY screens, that can save you a lot of money.

As I said in my post, I will be painting either ceiling or the walls possibly both. I think I can talk my fiance into gray walls and then a dark ceiling. Or gray ceiling with darker walls...

It might be worth your while to slightly stretch you budget on a set of speakers to replace the Emotiva's. There's a great set of Salk's on sale on the site at a very reasonable price.

i have no connection to this guy, I don't know him from Adam.

You can always update all the equipment later on when your budget allows but you want to get the L-C-R speakers right first and foremost.

I own the same pair in a 14'x14' office and with today's modern AVR's room correction equalization feature you'll be amazed at how much bigger & better the sound will be.

Good luck
