OK, as I just received my Belkin 5 HDMI switcher with 3 free HDMI cables. Hooked up my Xbox 360 Elite, PS3, and Explorer 8300HD Cable Box. The objective was to run them all into the HDMI switcher, then into the Denon AVR-887, then into the TV, since it has no HDMI inputs, only one DVI. Well when I hooked up the Cable Box, it only outputs to 480p. I had it working on 1080i when it ran straight to the TV.

I know it is not the Belkin because I ran the cable box into its own HDMI input on the receiver, and it still didn't switch to 1080i ouptut. I know it is the receiver because if I leave the cable box on, and turn the receiver off, it flips to "1080i" on the cable box display.

Any help on getting it to show 1080i to the receiver?

Another experiment is to bypass the receiver with that switcher and go to the TV directly and see if the cable box does 1080i. May have to go this rout.
Experiment with turn on sequence and recycle the cable box in th esequences see if any of this helps.

Did you go into the Cable box settings and change the format to Upconvert1 or 2?
Set it to Auto HDMI?

There is an option to change the output settings to choose 1080 and that is what I selected.

I have tried it many different ways, and I have given up. I just ordered a 3 foot composite video cable from Blue Jeans to hook the cable box directly into the TV, and I'll just run the XBOX and PS3 with HDMI to the receiver and into the TV with HDMI to DVI.
