I have just spent the better part of a week converting my old system to to a new system, and I am about at the end of my rope. I got my first stereo system in 1967, and have had several over the years, so I am not a newbie, but this HDMI stuff is not as easy as it should be, at least so far.
So now I have the new Samsung 40" LCD hooked up to the new Onkyo receiver and it works great. Then I attempt to hook up the Onkyo DVD player to the TV with an HDMI cable, and I get sound, but no picture. Of course I also ran a digital coax to the receiver. The manual says the HDMI light on the front of the DVD player should come on when it recognizes another HDMI component.
But this light is flashing, which tells me something may be wrong with the cable. Earlier in the TV process, I got a message on the screen that said something about not being able to authenticate the HD connection, but the picture is perfect coming from the cable box, so if the cable was not up to speed, would it still work? Sorry for the long rant, but if anyone can put me out of my misery with a suggestion, other than to call a service, which I refuse to do out of principle, I would be most grateful.
