HELP - Denon AVR1709 suddenly stopped working

My Denon AVR1709 crapped out on me. We were streaming Netflix and paused the show for about 5 minutes, when I came back and pressed play there was no sound output at all. We swapped in a different optical input cable which didn't help. I tried to play test tones through the speaker setup menu but when I press the setup button no setup menu appears anymore. (About a month ago I was successful in using the speaker setup menu to setup my speakers). I contacted Denon who told me that pausing a streaming service can confuse the amp due to a state they called "PCM zero" but a hard reset should fix it. I did a hard reset according to the manual a couple times and it didn't help, so I'm not sure if the initial no-sound condition/paused netflix is actually the culprit because I still have no setup menu, which is odd.

This is as far as I've gotten with the amp. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks very much

Before the hard reset did you try a soft reset (i.e. unplug it for a little while) ? Probably won't help if the full reset doesn't but worth a shot.

I did yeah, good idea though. The weirdest part is that the system setup menu to set speaker levels (so I could verify if the test tone plays) no longer comes up when I press the button.
