Hi:

I'm a newbie to these type of receivers and need HELP. I've just got my brand new AVR-3808CI and hooked up all the components I have so far ( TV and speakers ). I went throught the automatic setup for the speakers fine, but I haven't been able to move beyond this point. All I need is some basic documentation on how to turn on and listen to the FM Radio and TV for now, but the documentation provided by Denon and the two remote I got are pretty much useless unless I get more basic instructions on how to move beyond turning the unit on. I got the documentation from batpig.com, but I wasn't able to use it at this point. Whenever I try to use either remote, I get stuck somewhere. Is there better documentation/instructions somewhere or is there a book I can get?

Thanks a lot,
Jhon :confused::confused: :)

Thanks, Paradigm:

I did the basic speaker setup with the mic, the problem is I don't know how to turn the FM Tuner on and I did not find batpig.com that useful at this point.

Hi, Jhon, and welcome to the forum!

Have you checked out page 47 of the Denon owner's manual? It discusses how to select the tuner function and operate it.

Whenever, I turn the source select know, I get the Tuner Ext. In
and I don't know how to get unstuck from this option.

What do I do next?

I would use the remote control, but let's see if we can get you through this.

In the manual on page 37, it discusses setting up the input mode for the tuner. You can select "Analog" or "EXT. IN". I bet that you want "Analog," because "EXT. IN" refers to the multi-channel inputs (I believe). Try setting that to "Analog" for the tuner and see if that works for you.

I got it to display the Analog mode then when I press Enter/Select
it takes me to a different place. and then it displays

E5 FM 90.10 MHz Stereo
but no sound or static is coming out of the speakers.

Cool. You're now to a point that you are using the built-in tuner (I believe).

90.10 is an FM frequency. You need to either auto seek for a station that will come in, or tune to a frequency that you know you can get. Make sure that you hooked up the FM antenna, too.

Thanks, I finally got the two front speakers to play. I must have done something to the center and rear speakers because they are silent.

Thanks a lot for your help, I'm going to call for they day.

It's probably in some sort of stereo mode, vs using PLiiX. Most people prefer to keep stereo material in stereo, vs using some algorithms to create a 5.1/7.1 sound field.

I have never used the tuner section so I can't help on that. It is all pretty easy to figure out using the GUI. Just jack around with it until you feel comfortable, you can't hurt anything and we can tell you how to fix anything you mess up.
