Help Decide on DVD Player

I am looking to spend around 250.00. I would like to use the HDMI feature. I am new to this forum and will decide which to buy from this forums opinions. Thanks

You should definately checkout the reviews on the panasonic dvds77 and dvds97. They have dvd-a and amazing picture quality, i have had the 77 for about a month and my dvd picture quality is way better, even on just a regular 27" tv....upgrading soon hopefully. For the price, tough to beat, and they come with an hdmi cable!!!

Thanks for the quick reply and they are within my price range. Would there be much difference in picture quality between the two? I realize that new products with new features are always comming out and want to purchase a DVD/CD player that will stay current. I also like the fact that they come with a HDMI cable. Do you recommend one over the other? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks

They each have players in your price range. The Oppo got Best (Budget) DVD Player for 2005 from Secrets (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_12_4/secrets-best-of-2005-awards-12-2005.html).

I should be getting mine today.

The newer model Sony(link above) does not support 1080p. Its says that it has a 3:2 pulldown so it should not make a difference http://www.hometheatermag.com/rearprojectiontvs/1105sony/. Would purchasing a new DVD with 1080p not work well on this TV, or would I still get the same picture using a player that supports 1080p? I'm confused about getting the right DVD player and any help appreciated. Thanks
