I've been thinking about upgrading my Marantz SR5006 receiver. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for so I decided to go ahead and post and get some help. The biggest reason I'm deciding on upgrading is to bring new life to my 7.2 system which consist of EMPs Impression Series, along with two PSA XV15. I guess you could say looking for more power/higher sound quality along with cool new features. My budget for this upgrade is around $1600 give or take. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Denon 4311 (MRSP $2100, made in Japan) for about $1200 or X4000 (MRSP $1300, made in China) for $1200.

I would get the 4311 because it is higher-end and I think higher quality built.

Both have Audyssey XT32 w/ dual Sub EQ.

If your not hung up on Audessy, look at the Aventage line by Yamaha. Good solid products with great sound.

You know the real reason I like Denon is because they have an Apple App (& Android).

All about Apple Apps. :D

What makes you think you need more power than what the SR-5006 currently provides? Upgrading from one receiver to the next is like spitting in the wind, at least as far as power is concerned. Newer features make sense. Improved room correction is a good reason to upgrade your receiver and XT32 works wonders in terms of improving sound quality in a room.

I believe Yamaha has an app for apple as well, but I'm not sure (since I don't have apple products).

Also good. But it's not the power output that is interesting here. Anthem power is no better than any other AVR. It is the Anthem Room & Sub EQ.

I have great success with Audyssey Dynamic EQ. But I've heard good things about Anthem ARC, so no reservation here.
