XBox:
- If it is like a normal DVD player, there is a setting in the menu system that has to be set to PCM because you are using analog connections for audio.
- You connected the video from the xbox to the receiver but did you connect video from the receiver to the TV? If the receiver does not switch video, then connect the video from the xbox straight to the TV.
TV:
- Some TVs won't pass audio to their audio outputs if the internal speakers are on. Check if there is a menu setting on the TV to disable the internal speakers.
- Make sure you are using the 'fixed' audio outputs of the TV. If use the variable audio outs, the TV volume control will be active and you have to turn it way up. If you use the fixed outs, the TV volume control has no effect and you use the receiver only to control volume. Most TVs have two different outputs, one labeled fixed and the other variable, but some require you to set fixed vs variable in the menu.
- You don't need to send video from the TV to the receiver. If you have cable conected from the wall to the TV, the TV already has the audio and the video and the audio outs will get the audio portion to the receiver.
