Hi all, this is my first post and its a not on a happy note

I moved house and one of my speaker cones now gives out a distorted sound, i have taken it out and looked at it but its like a cave man looking at concepts on nuclear physics  but it looks ok..

Anyway I have two of these speakers (towers) each with two of the same sized cone (both identical) a tweeter at the top and bass cone at the bottom. When I took out the damaged cone and looked at it there are no markings or ratings on it and so cant find out what to replace it with. Can i rate these things myself using amp/volt meter or something of the like? On the back it says the speakers asa whole are rated at 250W ~8Ohms.

They were really good speakers and really good quality sound from them. They are custom jobs done by a friend of a friend and so cant walk into a store and just buy a new one from a certain manufacture.

Can anyone offer a poor soul some advice??

Absolutely. Give PE a call, tell them the dimensions of your speakers, and they'll hook you up. They can send you a catalog with all the woofers they offer, or you can view them on line. They have just about anything you could imagine. www.partexpress.com

Unfortunately, you'll most likely have to buy two woofers.

You can always snap a digital photo of the front, back, and side view and email it here or to PE to see if someone recognizes it.

What year were the speakers built?

Can't you ask the friend to ask the builder what the drivers are?
