I got a BenQ W500 that I bought from Costco. Today, after downloading the new PS3 demo 'Echochrome' (which is basically a stick figure in a white background), I noticed that the upper right hand side of the screen has a red tint that smears and fades to the white background. The lower right side has more of a light blueish tint to it. Is this normal for LCD projectors? I also surfed the net and on white pages (google, Audioholics forum, I notice the red tint as well). Does this go away with use, or is this a defect? I checked the grid pattern on the remote and the convergence seem to be pretty good. Any ideas?

No, this is not a normal event.
Perhaps it needs a proper calibration. Get a TV calibration DVD and go over it. Or, may want to consider having it calibrated?

I used the THX optomizer on from some DVDs to set the levels. The picture looks good except where there's a light color. For example, I popped in my Jaws DVD and there are several scenes where the sky is visible. I noticed that the very light blue sky has a pinkish tone to it exactly where the red tint is on the upper right hand side.

Sounds like you have a bad panel. I'd get an RMA ASAP.
