Help: Audio Out to Monitor

Simple question ... I run all my A/V through my Yamaha HTR-5890 receiver using the component monitor out to the TV for video. All is well except there is no dedicated "audio out to monitor" so I currently have no sound coming from my TV. What is the best "output" connection to use to get audio to my TV? Thank you in advance. Paul

With A/V equipment, the tv is used only for video. Volume on tv should be off, or as low as it will go. Shouldn't even use tv as a center channel.
Your audio should go through your A/V receiver, out to your speakers.

Thank you, that makes sense. I would like to connect the TV audio for convenience only. Sometimes I don't want all 7 speakers on - so I would turn down the receiver and just control the TV volume. Any advice on how to accomplish this? Thanks, Paul

Does the TV have audio outputs on it? If so you could run audio out from cable/satellite box to the TV audio inputs, then use the TV audio outputs to connect to the audio inputs on your receiver. When listening to TV with the speakers on mute the TV volume.

Yeah, if you have a cable box, or sat box, run the red and white composite audio cables to the tv, if your tv has audio inputs. If the box has only one set of outputs, you can get "Y" adapters, and send one side to tv, and other side to receiver.

Or run audio through a vcr to the tv. I'd have to see your setup to say exactly what to do. But, maybe you know what I'm talking about? :)

What audio are you thinking of having your TV speakers play, if it has built in speakers. Does it?
