Hey everyone,
This is my first post on this forum. Im 20 years old and in college so i dont have a lot of money to spend but my dad used to be in the high end audio business so i have some stuff laying around my house that i want to setup. I just have some basic questions.

This is what ive got!
NO SPEAKERS:eek:
DB Systems DB-1B Preamp
2x DB Systems DB-6A Power Amps
Sony CDP CE405 (not my dad's, looks pretty cheap to me but its the only cd player i have so far)
I have a fairly decent turntable i think im not sure of the brand off the top of my head. I also have a super old looking Tandberg AM/FM receiver that i dont know too much about.

I plan on buying 2 floor standing speakers probably Paradigm Monitors or SEs all depending on my money situation. My main goal is just to listen to music but eventually id like to be able to incorporate an HDTV and Blueray(ps3). I guess my main question would be down the road what would i need to add/change in my system to be able to do this. I would need an AV receiver and not a pre/poweramp setup correct? If i bought a receiver it probably wouldnt be more then 600$(looking at marantz). Would this be a downgrade audio quality wise in my system from the pre/poweramp setup?

By the way if anyone has any other advice for me your more then welcome

You can also use an AVR as a pre amp out to use the DB amps with. The amps and Pre are vintage gear and probably sound great.Being that you are in college you are in a place that you can't use subs I would imagine. If you bought an AVR with pre outs then you would be future proofed. As long as you get one with HDMI inputs then you should be good to go.I don't know what the DB pre's sound like as I have never heard one.But power is power so I am sure that you amps are fine.I couldn't tell you if an AVR would sound better than your current setup but it sounds like you just need some speakers and off to the races you go.

Thanks!
Can anyone recommend me a good AVR with pre outs for about 650 or under? I would love to have a marantz and was looking at the NR1501 but this has no pre outs correct?
