I'm about to slit my wrists! Please help with a problem which I'm afraid I know the answer for.

Just moved into new apt with wall speakers (l&r) already installed in kitchen, and only ONE speaker cable (two channels) outputting through the wall in the next room. I'm trying to connect these speakers to my new Marantz 7500 (w/ multiroom capability), but problem is there is only one cable. (I cannot break through the walls to see if there is a second cable, but I DO know that this cable does work: in fact when hooked up to cheap portable boombox, there was sound coming out of both L & R speakers!).

But how oh how can I hook up this one duo-channel speaker cable to my receiver - both to the L Speaker (and try and listen to CD's in mono?!); to the red inputs of L & R speakers? Am I doomed? Is there a way to adapt it to two cables? Any help would be much appreciated!

You say it is one cable, but how many conductors inside? If it is 16/4 (or any other gauge with 4 conductors) then you have all you need to connect two speakers. Two wires go to the positive and negative of one speaker and two go to the other speaker.

If it is a single cable with only 2 conductors, like a normal speaker cable, then you cannot connect two speakers.
