Happy New year. I am hopefully soon going to purchase Mythos ST Towers, 2-gemXL's and a Mythos Ten center when David makes his big Def Tech order. I will be needing a new amp to replace my aging Onkyo SR898,(no HDMI switching). My living room is small now but I want something capable of 7.1 for the future. I am leaning toward the Tx-SR875 because of the upgraded Av qualities, but I am open to suggestions. What do you guys think? My display is a Sony 60a3000.

I would say skip the TX-SR875 and go for the TX-SR805. It has the same fundemental amplifier (they even weigh the same, I wouldn't be surprised if there was any difference at all). The TX-SR875 basically only adds the Reon HQV which won't likely be dramatically better than your TV's on-board scalers if at all. If you plan on getting a Blu-ray or HD DVD player (I personally wouldn't reccommend buying into HD DVD as it appears to be secure in it's fate) it will work the same with the TX-SR805 as it would with the TX-SR875. They offer similar connectivity, almost exact, and features aside from the Reon HQV scaler engine.

The best part of this plan is it saves you $400 or more on the receiver and you can afford to splurge a bit more on subwoofer or something.:)

I agree with what Seth=L said... save your money on the receiver and get the 805, plenty of power with it's THX Ultra 2 certification, and since the def techs have high sensitivity, they will be able to play plenty loud.

Do you really need HDMI switching?
