Sorry I have not been around so much as I have been really busy.I am at my folks house in SC and my dad is looking for a 2 channel shelf system under $650.He has heard all about blose systems and does not want to go there. Problem is,I am out of touch with the all in one systems and would love to hear from some of my knowledgeable friends here at AH.My mom would like to play cds and they will only be listening to classical music and maybe some other light music.I am going to go to BB :)eek: I know I know) with him tomorrow and look around but if anyone can help a brother out please add your comments.....Thanks......Adam its good to see you posting again buddy...where is the crazy monkey at??????

IF you're dead-set on something from Best Buy, well, then I'm outta steam but, if you want something a little better, then this NAD unit would make a nifty centerpiece for a quality system, and it's small to boot.

The price still leaves some wiggle room for sone decent bookshelf speakers. Scout out some from the same place if it interests you. If you're interested in this concept, speaker suggestions can be provided.

It won't be as gaudy as the all-in-one stuff you can get but it will be clean, simple, very, very good sounding, and should be of more than decent quality.

I Auditioned One of These

Check out www.tivoliaudio.com and see if they have something of interest. I visited one of their dealers in the Boston area. Their products are not cheap in price, but the all in one music system that I listened to [the one pictured] left the Bose all in one systems WAY behind in many areas. It was expensive, but I was impressed.

Hey, Jamie, great to see you on here, too!

After seeing this thread last night, I of course went straight to Amazon to see what they offer. There are some well-rated and pretty inexpensive Panasonic units (such as this one for $80). I'm guessing that your parents want something better, though.

If I had a $650 budget for a 2 channel rig, I'd think about something like this from Denon:
http://www.amazon.com/Denon-RCD-N7-CD-Receiver-System/dp/B005FE734C/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1313588136&sr=8-6.

It has a CD player, ipod dock, fm/am radio, internet radio, it will stream your music wirelessly, and it works with airplay as well.

I've seen them in white for around $100 more but the prices on this might be in flux. They look cool and I've been thinking of getting one for the master bedroom.
