Hi, I am a new owner of Klipsch reference series speakers and a Yamaha RX-V3300 which I love a great deal. I have been into the audio hobby since I was in high school in the mid 80s and I got into the HT end of things in 98' or so.

I am glad I found a forum that seems to have quite a few Yamaha fans.

Do you detect any "brightness" or "harshness" in the combo of yamaha and klipsch? I have heard many people say that this combination of a bright receiver and an equaly bright speaker makes for a harsh sound. Have you noticed this at all in your combo?

Everyone asks this!

The answer is no , not at all. I'd characterize the combo as neutral and musical, highs are crystal clear and smooth as glass and bass is tight , clean and controlled sounding.

I've never personally thought of any of my Yamaha receivers as being bright... I think that's an old sterotype that just won't die. In fact, I did an A-B with a Sony (non ES) back when I bought the RX-V3000 and thought the Sony sounded somewhat edgy - the Yamaha was much warmer.

I have Klipsch Klf-30's and I am demoing the Yamaha rx-v2400. I feel that this combo is on the bright side. I've lowered the High frequencies in the GEQ and they sound much better. I also have a Yamaha DSP-A1 and that combo has been a perfect match.

Yamahas have never been bright with properly matched speakers, just more detailed and defined sound.
