Hello Mike here and I just wanted to say hello and thanks for letting me join this great site. I have received a Yamaha HTR 5750 from my dad and I hooked everything up correctly and when I go to power up the unit it comes on for about a second then immediately shuts off, can anyone shed some light on my predicament? I would greatly appreciate any input you may have!

What speakers are you running with the Yamaha HTR 5750?

Check your speaker wiring, seems like you've got a short somewhere.

I will thrid that one, wiring is the first thing I'd check. For some reason Yamahas and a few others don't tollerate even a very small short. Also check that your polarities are correct for alll speakers. One thing to try, disconnect all of the speaker wire and see if it still does it. If it doesn't, then reconnect the wires one by one...

Make sure you check both ends of the wire, speakers and receiver end. May need to use a magnifying glass.
