Height of wall mounted bookshelves

Part of my current project involves mounting brackets for a pair of bookshelf speakers on either side of a wall mounted tv. I'm not sure however how high up the wall the brackets should be mounted. The brackets allow for up to 7 degrees of up and down adjustment.

The majority of the time I will be seated while listening to these speakers either in a lounge chair in front of the tv (watching tv) or at my desk in the corner listening to music. Any help is appreciated.

The brackets should be at a height so that the bookshelf tweeters are at ear height when you are sitting down in the main listening position

Agreed.. Make sure the tweeter is at ear height. Generally I do not like to tilt the speakers.

That poses a problem for me. To plan for mounting the tv I had to balance being at eye level and not looking ridiculous mounted at crouch level when standing up. So I plan to mount the tv higher than eye level but not so much that I have to move my neck up to watch. This is because the lounge chair in that room is very low. If I mount the speakers at ear height they will look very strange in comparison in the tv.

Will I lose a lot of sound quality if I mount the brackets about a foot from where the tweeter will be at ear height?

I don't know what speakers will go in these brackets yet (they are the btech bookshelf brackets that can hold up to 55 lbs and any speaker that is 7" to 11" wide so I will have a ton of options). With an above ear placement is there a certain type of speaker to look into to compensate for this placement?

Within a foot or so of ear level will be adequate. Mounting them on the wall is a bigger problem than getting them at ear level IMO. You want front ported or sealed speakers for mounting close to the wall.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with angling the speakers down toward you.

Thanks J Garcia. I will definitely be looking at front ported for this application. They will only be about 2-3 inches from the back wall.
