Heat Shrink Tubing questions

I want to put colored (red, black) heat shrink tubing on speaker cables that covers a portion of the terminal ends of the wire and part of the connector. This is both for aesthetics and to secure connectors. There are numerous types of tubing available depending on properties you want (tubing type, shrink ratio, wall thickness). Can you tell me what you have used? Also where is the best place to obtain this; I only need a relatively small amount and don't want to pay more S&H than the tubing cost itself. RS only carries bags with mixed sizes, most which I can't use. I live in No. VA area.

Thanx for your help.

There is one local hardware store remaining around here. They only have one type, pre-packaged, black only. I guess I'll have to order online from somewhere.

I have some snippets of both red and black you can have. I live off of Franconia Raod in Alex. But you'll have to wait until next week, I'm currently in New Orleans for work.

email me your address if you want it. BTW it is 1/2 inch 3:1 shrink ratio no glue. Got some yellow, green, and blue too.

Parts Express has a great selection of heat shrink of many ratios and sized, with or without adhesives. They also have some that you can shrink with just a hair dryer as a opposed to a heat gun- it works very well, too.
