I'm going to NC State next year as a freshman, so my days of blasting music and movies are over. I was wondering how I connect some of the fancy Dolby/DTS headphones to my reciever? There is no Digital Out on my Onkyo 6.1 Reciever, so I am lost other than the headphone port. How do you guys have your headphones hooked up, and do you have any suggestions for relatively cheap headphones (under 150.00USD) that would be good for music/movies?

Thanks,
Aaron

You can still blast music in the dorms!

I'm a big fan of the Sony MDR-7506 or its cheaper clone, the MDR-V6. These are very accurate headphones that do a good job of isolating you from outside noise as well as isolating other people from your music. They're only stereo, but they sound great. A bonus is the fact that they are built like a tank, so they'll take the abuse of college life. I've dropped mine so many times I've lost count. I've yanked the cord just as much and they're still going strong.

You can get some pretty cool surround stuff from just stereo headphones. Check this out:
