I'm looking to replace my current rca 60" rear projection television. The only wall i can put a tv has a niche in it that is 59"w x 7'h x 40"d. I am looking at a 61" samsung hl-s6188w or a sony 50" kds-r50xbr1. Any help?

Are these the only models you’re interested in or are you looking for additional reco’s? I would prefer the Sony for PQ, but go with the Samsung for size. The PQ of the Samsung is also excellent. Most 60”- 65” displays with under-mount speaker should fit the width. Mitsubishi’s new 65” has a width of 58.5”. JVC and Toshiba also offer some excellent options.

Here is a comparison review of this last year's displays: http://hometheatermag.com/rearprojectiontvs/206faceoff/

I did some more searching and found out that the new sony's are due out next month. so im going to wait for them since the are suppose to have the speakers bottom mounted this time.

I have been looking the KDS-60A2000 and KDS-R60XBR2. The deciding factor is going to be the width on the xbr2 with the side speakers removed. If its over 59.5" then im going with the A2000 model.

The speakers are only removable on the 70XBR2, not the 60XBR2.
