Hi, I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 3100 HD Set-top Box that I wish to connect to a computer monitor (HP LCD 1530 Monitor). But I am getting a "input signal out of range" message on the monitor and could not see any video. I know the monitor has a maximum resolution of 1024X768 and maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz, does anyone know what might be the problem? and can give me some idea and help?

Thanks!!!!

What connection are you using and what type of signal are you trying to display?

The 3100HD box only has composite, s-video, and component video outputs. Your monitor likely only has a composite or s-video input. HD cannot be output over composite or s-video.

If you are feeding it HD, then those two resolutions would be 1920x1080 interlaced or 1280x720 progressive, both of which are outside the range of your display as well. The best you could do would possibly be 480p over a DVI connection...

maybe.

Maybe being the operative word. Over a DVI connection the box may look for an HDCP handshake protocol from the monitor...which it likely does not have.

The 3100HD set top box does not have a DVI output (at least mine doesn't).
