Hey everybody, first I just want to say I have always come to this site for advice over the years and think this is one of the most knowledgeable websites around. You guys definitely know your stuff and I salute you.

Through my work I get a decent discount from Panasonic, as well as Apple and Dell. I am in the market for a 42" HD display, that isn't necessarily going to be my long term "Home Theater" television. I just want something with a nice picture that I can play video games on and watch dvd's on once in a while. I plan on just putting this in the bedroom after a couple of years and getting something big and bad, but I am currently in an apartment and won't be doing a dedicated home theater until I buy a house which will let me go with front projection hopefully.

I am interested in this model, I can't post links but the model is TH-42PX80U, its a Panasonic 720p.

with my discount I can get this model for 927.00 and free express shipping. Now I have never looked at Plasma's, I have always been a fan of LCD. Is there a good LCD around this price and are plasma's ok to play games on? I plan on hooking up a 360 through HDMI and playing a lot of games and every so often watching movies (sadly don't have as much time as I used to) and thats about it. This comes out in a couple weeks and if its decent I want to jump on it. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.

It is my understanding that recent Plasma sets are much less subject to burn-in.

A quick look around had Toshiba, Samsung, and other 42 inch plasma and Lcd sets in that 950-1000 range. The Panasonics were a bit more so your target set may have better resolution or other advantages. I find the plasma picture preferable, myself.

I play my 360 on my 60u series plasma (circa 2006) all the time and have never had a problem with burn in. I don't play for hours on end, but 2 - 3 hours at a time has never hurt it. You get a temporary burn in that goes away in 15 minutes of normal tv watching.
