Hi guys, I'm in need on a hdtv antenna. I went on antennaweb.org and they recommended, based on where i live, that I buy a small directional antenna w/ pre amp.

Can anyone recommend a good one? I'm going with Dish Network HDTV and I've seen antennas that hook right into the satellite line, are these good? Also should I go outdoor or indoor?

Any comments and recommendations are appreciated.

If you're getting satalite HDTV, you shouldn't need an antenna.

Satellite doesn't have all the local HD channels.

Ahh.. Good point.

I've got a RadioShak HDTV amplified antenna. It's an indoor antenna, and FWIW, I got less stations with it than with regular *** bunny ears.

*EDIT* It's this thing. Don't wast your money on it.

Thanks fellas. That was what I was looking for. By the looks of it (and the description) I'm assumming that's a large multidirectional w pre amp out.

I also checked out the Terks, Winegard GS-2200 and the Philips PMHDTV1.

I'd rather have this outside the house then inside, so I will gather up more specs on the TV44. I'm located about 35 miles away from the tower for NYC locals.

Hope it works!

Radio Shack offers some of the best antennas around. They are as good as any and reasonably priced. You shouldn't need any preamp for an antenna 35 miles away. I have found mostly that amplified tv signals cause trouble. Incidentally, there is no such thing as an HD antenna. Any vhf/uhf antenna is perfect. I highly suggest connecting your antenna with RG6 for best signal.

Thanks. I'm basically only interested in the uhf signals (for hdtv), so do you think this antanna will do?

Is there an RG6 connector on the antenna itself?

That is the antenna I am using. It is installed in my attic, and the transmitters are about 25 miles from my house. It should work for you also. Of course YMMV.

Jerry
Thanks Jerry, YMMV??
