I am hopelessly confused.
I have a Panasonic LCD HDTV and a Motorola 6200 Set Top Box (STB) with HD cable service. But I want to replace my older Yamaha A/V Receiver, and my speakers are nothin' special. DVD player is fine. And, the hitch: I have a TiVo Series 2.
So I want good sound with minimum fuss, and I want HD when possible, realizing that TiVo has no HD support yet, so anything through there will get dumbed down.
So I love the idea of the
Yamaha YSP1 (or
YSP-800) ... I think it should replace my A/V receiver and speakers, right? But how do I hook it all together?
The TV has composite and HDMI inputs, which I believe are my only options for HDTV. Set top box has DVI, composite, optical, digital coax, and everything else. DVD has digital coax and optical out. But the YSP-1 (and family) have optical video inputs for TV/STB and Aux.
Can this all fit together? Will it be incredibly confusing to switch inputs when I want to go between TiVo, HDTV and DVD?
Should I wait for some A/V Receiver that does HDMI switching and make my life easier -- and does that replace the YSP-1?
This is probably incoherent. Sorry
