Not sure if this post is in the right section.
I got a question about HDMI. I was wondering if I could use an HDMI splitter in my system? I have a reciever the has 2 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out. Right now Im using the 2 HDMI in's for my cable box and PS3. But I was thinking about getting a Boxee Box/Zotac ZBOX HD and was wanting to use HDMI but knew I only had 2 HDMI in's. So my question is can this work or is there another option I have?

I have no idea what a boxee box is, but if you need to add inputs you need an HDMI switcher, so you can switch between more than one device connected to one HDMI input. Make sure you buy a switcher with repeater architecture and one that is HDCP certified. If you don't you will be in for disappointment.

HDMI is two way, so switchers are not simple.

You will need something like this.

While I use component video for most of my HD content, the use of the Monoprice switcher is something that I have done several times with good results.

Most HDMI gear is limited by HDCP, not by HDMI itself. So, it will depend on the device connected to it, but for the relatively low cost of the Monoprice switcher, it makes sense to just get it and try it out. Pick up a few decent HDMI cables while you are there.

SWITCHER is what you want. A switcher switches inputs between multiple devices. A splitter takes a single device and lets you show it on multiple displays. So, if you have a projector, and a plasma panel, you would SPLIT the HDMI output to both the plasma and the projector.

Thanks to everyones input but all I think I'll try and get some good component cables and an optical cable to run my cable box and use the other HDMI input for my apple tv then vs spending $300 on a switcher for now since I will be upgrading my reciever in the future then I'll have more HDMI inputs then. The component cable is what I was thinking bout using but figured I ask if there was another way that's all.

Please don't spend more than $10 on your cables!

We have linked to $30 switchers which will work fine and have a remote control.

The same place (Monoprice) has component cables which will do perfectly for you for very little cash. If you spend $50 on 'good' component cables, you could have just gotten the switcher with some HDMI cables for the same cash.
