HDMI - worth the wait?

I just bought a Panasonic PT-AE700U projector and its a slick unit.

Now I have a dilema - do I wait for a Reciever/amp with HDMI switching or go with the Denon AVR-3805 now? The AVR-4806 is a little out of my range.

Does anybody know when a chepaer HDMI Denon or other alternative will be released?

Also - I was thinking of getting the Sony DVP-NS975V with HDMI and 720p/1080i upconversion but the reviews are scary - lots of locked-in DVDs. Is the Denon DVD-2910 really worth the extra $$ or should I wait on this too?

It depends on how ofter you like to upgrade. I use my Denon 3805 for switching video and love that feature. My HDTV is almost 5 years old and doesn't have a DVI/HDMI interface. But yours does and so will the new HD DVD formats. If you don't upgrade often I'd wait. The new Yamaha 4600 (I think that's the model #) will have HDMI switching and should be out soon. If you like to upgrade a lot then why wait? It will be a good excuse to upgrade in another year. :D

Yeah, like Duffinator said the RX-V4600 from Yamaha is due out anytime now .. has a retail price of $1899 which means you should probably be able to get for $1500-$1600 without much resistance from your theater retailer.

In regards to the Denon DVD player .. I know its a good one but personally Id wait til the HD-DVD and blu-ray DVD players come out in a few months as they will both also play DVD-video and you probably do not want to have 4 or 5 DVD players, if you are lookin at a 400 disc changer or two - as well, tieing up your precious HDMI and DVI slots.

Check out the Panasonic SA-XR 70 if you want to go now. I believe that Pioneer will be replacing some elite models in the fall, and I believe that HDMI will be included.
