HDMI - Worth a Wall Plate?

Hello all -

I'm very happy to find this forum and make my first posting.

I wondering what thinking is out there on using HDMI wall plates? I'm contemplating doing so vs. just running the cable right out of the wall (maybe with some kind of grommet.) While I don't have too long a cable run, 16 - 20 ft max, I am concerned about the extra connection point and signal degradation that a wall plate could/would cause.

:confused: :confused::confused:

Hey borbeso. Welcome to the forum.

How many feet of cable are you running in wall? Is the 16-20 foot run the entire run? And is that cable rated for in wall use?

I would be more concerned about signal degradation (attenuation) with the (potential) length of cable that you are running. Run the cable and connect. If there is degradation, you can purchase a booster, which helps for both multiple connections and long cable runs. Cheers.
