I have an older (P50XHA30WS) Fujitsu plasma monitor (no tuner or sound) that only has a DVI input. I want to upgrade my old JVC 5.1 receiver to a HDMI AVR unit.

My current setup is: Blu-ray works ok (directly to the TV) using HDMI with a converter cable. My other components work ok using component (RGB) connections on the TV.

With a HDMI AVR: I will connect my DishDVR, Blu-ray & Xbox to the receiver (via HDMI), then HDMI video out (from the receiver) to the TV using a converter cable.

I'm finding some HDMI receivers are not compatible with a DVI port (which is HDCP complaint). Can anyone suggest a HDMI receiver that will display video to a DVI port?

DVI is the same as HDMI just without audio. There are different types of DVI however. Are you SURE the port is HDCP compliant? My former set was DVI only and it never had an issue with any of my HDMI devices via an adapter.

If your tv isn't hdcp compliant(DVI-D) you will need to use component video to run all video signals. You shouldn't lose any quality this way, but any hack will be a waste of money and more trouble than it's worth.

I have DVI port set to DVI-D.

I did try a Sony Receiver. When reading the manual it stated the receiver is not compatible with DVI (exchanged the unit). Also, I've been told (by some sales people) in the stores that newer HDMI units are not compatible with DVI.

The suggestion to use component connection is ok.
Thanks.

If you have a DVI-D then you simply need a HDMI to DVI cable.

I've had an Onkyo 705 and HK AVR 247 receiver and my HDMI to DVI has worked on both. ;)
