Hey

My Sony Bravia is too far away from my ps3 to connect it with a 6 foot HDMI cable so i was going to use just component. Will i suffer any picture loss?

Depends, if you are doing 1080i, you shouldn't have any problems. The difference will come with advanced copyright protection on new software.

HDMI vs, Component

So basically they're the same picture quality like if i'm playing a ps3 game in 1080i through HDMI it should look the same with Component?

They should be equivalent.

You can pick up a 15 or 20 foot HDMI cable for under $10.

In your case I would go for the HDMI connection because of the Blu-ray capabilities. If it were just a regular dvd player component would be just fine.

No, there isn't.

28 AWG is the spec for HDMI under 15 feet. I use the Monoprice 28 AWG HDMI cable in a 15' length.

You need a thicker cable, like 24 AWG, for longer distances or if you have some type of signal loss/dropout with the 28 AWG. I'm sure the 28 will be more than sufficient for you.

HDMI is a digital signal so the signal either gets there or it doesn't. "Better" cables do not yield a better picture. The only reason to go with a thicker/more expensive cable is if you have problems with a lower gauge.

I've used both and you definitely want HDMI with the PS3 because you will miss out on deep color with component. The resolution is the same with component, but color is an entirely different story. It was more noticeable with movies that games, but it still made a difference with games.

Darien, give me a call; I have a cable if you still need one.
