I am using a Denon 2910 DVD player and motorola HDTV cable box. I just added a Sanyo Z4 projector. Plan was to hook the DVD player via component connections and the cable box via HDMI/DVI (about a 25ft. run). As an experiment I hooked the DVD player to the HDMI connection and although the video quality appears the same the DVD player flashes 1080i. As far as I know this DVD player does not upcoded to HD.
Does anyone know why the 1080i is lit up? Is it just converting to the best possible quality it can get out of a DVD?
Any preference for HDMI over Component?
If HDMI is preferred, should I use a splitter box and run them both over HDMI? (a little expensive)
I appreciate any input or insight, I am obviously a little confused!
