HDMI TV, Denon receiver/DVD player wiring questions

I have ordered the following:

Hitachi 70" LCD RPTV (70VS810) - 2 HDMI ports
Denon 1910 DVD player - DVI port
Denon 2805 receiver
Time Warner Cable HD converter box with HDMI port

What is the best way to connect these, and what cables do you recommend...isn't monster cables a bit overpriced?

Thanks!

First of all ....the equipment you are getting ready to purchase is way out of sync with that cable box...You wil be very disapointed if you ever see a TV with true high def..Will that cable box be able to decode local high def stations? That is what I thought.

Satman,

Although opinions are what makes the forums interesting, I don't think the OP wished for anyone to flame his equipment. It may help to take a deep breath or count to 10 or something before replying.

newaudiophile,

As far as the audio is concerned you want to connect both the DVD player and cable box to your 2805 using digital connections. You have 2 digital coax and 5 digital optical (TosLink) inputs on the receiver, so you can pick which 2 you want to use.

The video can go a couple of ways; 1. run all video (in) to the 2805 with component cables and then run 1 component cable from the 2805 (out) to the TV. 2. Run the DVD player and cable box video (individually) to the TV using the DVI/HDMI connections.

Best of luck!

He is making a point, you can not use real cheap equipment that might not provide the basic function he is looking for.

My misinterpretation then. I guess I've just witnessed too many posts where people are asking a question regarding connections, placement, etc., and then getting told that their equipment needs to be improved. Maybe mistakenly but I like to think that most people have researched their purchases and have gotten the best equipment for their situation/needs.

Personally, I value all opinions and information that is posted here (even Mulester). I have also used most of the information to improve my system, so I would just like to see others benefit in the same way that I have.

Cheers.
