HDMI To DVI ??

Hey everyone i have a real quick question regarding the hdmi to dvi cable.
I was wondering if there is any signal loss or degradation to video performance by using this cable ..??
oh and one other thing, i'm using my receiver as a video switcher for all my sources.. i notice a bit of noise on my screen.. is it from my reciever or just over all interference. and should i invest in a line conditioner.???

No there won't be any signal loss. You might have a ground loop problem that is causing the video noise... check this out for more info:

Thanks for the welcome party..lol! and for your insight. i dont know how i got into this audio/video thing.. but it has me hooked real good. so know im on a quest to get the best out of my system. and im always upgrading my equipment. its so bad that i cant really enjoy movies at the movie theater if im at a "el Cheapo theater" where the sound sux and there is always somthing wrong with the picture. i cant listen to music at my friends cuz they have those jumbo stereos that look like spaceships or they listen from the computer. its a curse...... but i like it.. well at least in my house for the most part.
