HDMI to DVI connection at 33'

I believe I can run a HDMI to HDMI connection 33" and still have perfect HD picture. However, a friend tells me that running a 33' cable from HDMI feed to a DVI connection on my television may not work. Does anyone have experience/knowledge if HDMI to DVI run over 30' to 35' will work??

Has anyone actually used one of these? If so, how was the picture quality? Any loss of detail?
