I just bought a Yamaha RX-V463 reciever and I am having a problem with the HDMI ports and the switching when using it with my Cable/DVR box and my DVD player.
I have both the DVD and DVR hooked into the "in" HDMI on the receiver. Then I have the "out" HDMI running to the TV. When I switch to DVD viewing or DVR viewing the audio and video will cut in and out for a while and then finally audio comes through fine but the screen goes fuzzy (no video). This happens all the time.
I thought it might be a faulty receiver so I went out to and bought another one to check. The same thing happened. I checked the HDMI cables by connecting them directly from the DVD and DVR to the TV and they all worked fine. Maybe part of it is the DVD player?? I have a Toshiba XD-E500 upconvert player (I'm told it uses their HD-DVD technology). I'm really searching here...
Is there some setting I need to change for video and audio to come through the receiver? Settings at the DVD or DVR? Part of the reason I purchased this unit is the HDMI switching capability. Do you have any suggestions?
