Hey thanks in advance for helping me. I'm at my wits end a nd I consider myself pretty savy when it comes to hooking up HT equipment. Anyway...here's my prob.
I have a Pioneer Elite Reciever that has and HDMI cable hooked up to my Samsung Plasma TV. I want to be able to hear sound from my DVD player to my TV's speakers. I ahve tried just about everything I can think of, including reading the manual! Arghhhhh! I did change the settings for the HDMi to through so that the sound should pass unfiltered. I can get a picture just no sound to the TV. I will eventually have a true surround set-up, but in the mean time I'd like to at least watch a DVD until I get my speakers. Any tips or ideas? Thx.

DVD connected to Reciever via Component cables and Digital optical cable....reciever to TV via HDMI.

I don't think it's gonna happen that way.

But, you might be able to use a plain old red/white analog interconnect from the DVD's analog output to the corrosponding analog input on the TV.
