HDMI/Optical conversion for old Analog Amp?

Probably a stupid question but I don't want to buy junk or pay too much.

I have an old amp that I'd like to use with my sons TV/PS4. Is there a converter I can convert the TV output and PS4 output possibly using the optical out from the TV to the old analog inputs on the amp?

You may need to go into the TV settings to change the audio output to stereo. You didn't list a model number or anything, so you know, there's no way for us to know for sure what it has. But, a typical TV with a typical digital optical audio output should have settings in the sound menu to force all audio to stereo.

From the optical output of the TV, hook up a DAC then run analog audio into the receiver.

Worth adding: The PS4 has an optical audio output port on it. Not sure if it is on all models, but using that, you can send audio out to the above linked DAC as well. Make sure audio is set to stereo PCM.

Thanks for the help. TV is a newer Samsung 7 series inexpensive can’t recall exact model but a modern AVR (which isn’t his) is getting audio from the optical out for both TV and PS4 so figured just need the converter.

Honestly didn’t expect it to be so cheap. This is good news.
