HDMI issues

I have just reorganized my basement and am now having problems.

Here is the current set up;

pc -> (HDMI with ethernet (that's 1.4 correct?) 35') ->avr
bluray -> (HDMI (probably 1.3) 4') -> avr

avr -> (HDMI 1.3 50') -> tv

The only new cable is the 35', all of the others were used in my last config. (the 50' ran from the pc to the avr)

Here are the issues;
1. When watching blurays there is 'snow' on the screen and when sitting at the home screen - not when watching dvd's. (as soon as the 'HD' emblem appears there is an issue) Sony BDP-350

2. When the PC is the source I have no sound (and there was localized snow on the screen until about 2 minutes ago)


Any ideas?

I'd try relocating one or both of the sources closer to test with a shorter cable. That will tell you if the long cable is a factor or not, but since it happens for both sources, I'd suspect it is. For longer runs, a better quality cable, one built with a larger AWG of wire is recommended, so it is possible that the cable is the culprit and right around 25ft seems to be the point at which it can become a factor.

Tomorrow was going to be build the new sub day but I guess at least part of that time will be spent running the conduits I hadn't planned on running yet.

After dl'ing new drivers I can no longer get ANY sound out of my pc.

Is today a good day to say f it all and get drunk?

I did the same today at 2 o'clock.. And I'm glad I did Tomorrow will be much much better for it!
