I'm a newbie here, so let me say in advance, thanks for any insights you can offer.
I just took possesion of a 62HM94 and it is awesome. I also purchased a Samsung ht-ds1000 home theater in a box that has an HDMI output. I connected the output to the TV, set the TV to receive HDMI, Set the HDMI sound input to Auto (default setting) and pressed Play on the Samsung. I get the picture, but the dvd player is not able to "hand-shake" with the TV. Every 10 seconds or so, the Player changes from normal chapter/timing display and shows 720p (the setting i selected on the back of the player) and when that is displayed, the tv goes black for a couple seconds. When the player goes to normal display, the picture returns---in 10 seconds, the process all starts again. Also, no sound is coming through (I don't have the set in position for the full home theater, so am really just testing using the built-in speakers. Using Component Video inputs, the set works fine.
I've spoken with Samsung support, which asked me to try the unit on another HDMI equipped set----actually not a bad idea. I connected via HDMI to my neighbor's Pioneer plasma and it all worked fine.
SO....I think the problem lies with the Toshiba. Is anyone aware of problems such as this?
I'm thinking of just buying a Toshiba SD-5980 upconverting DVD player and seeing if that works via HDMI. If I get the image problems, then I call support.
Any ideas? Thanks!!!
